If you experience issues with Games that use the Paradox Launcher on Xbox Game Pass, it can be a problem with your antivirus and ransomware protection software.
To fix this, you can try the following:
- First make sure you have no Paradox related processes in the background. You can check this for example via the Task Manager on Windows.
- Disable your Anti Virus live scanner functionality temporarily before launching. For example:
- For Windows Defender, this can be found under:
Windows Security - Virus & Threat Protection Settings - 'Real-time Protection' - For Avast, you can follow these instructions. It should be sufficient if you change the setting under: “Protection” - “Core Shields” - “File Shield” - “Scan programs when executing”.
- For Windows Defender, this can be found under:
If this still doesn't solve the issue please try this:
Go to your Windows Apps folder (typically located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps)
If it asks for permission to access, you'll need to right click the folder, go to the security tab, click "Advanced", then change the PRINCIPAL at the top (put in your windows username)
Apply, then close the window.
If it didn't ask you or you have set up access from the steps above, go to ParadoxInteractive.ProjectTitus_1.0.96.0_x64__zfnrdv2de78ny within the Windows Apps folder.
Then go to launcher ---> bin
When you see cpatch.exe, right click it then go to Properties
Then once that's open, go to Compatibility
Check "Run this program as an administrator" then click Apply.
Click Ok.
Then try launching Crusader Kings 3.
